A Case Study

A Case Study

So, it’s that time again when I would have to hand out some interesting prizes, get the Eraption community views, and allow them to interact with each other through this website. For this one, I will be raffling off 3 crusader orbs randomly and 3 scrolls of powerful enchant to chest; 1 crusader orb and 1 scroll per person. Deadline of entries would be on October 1, 2009. I will announce the winners here on October 2.

The purpose:

The purpose of this survey is to get the views of the Eraption community. There are certain things that raid leaders are not aware of and they may get good nuggets from this exercise.

What you say is what you are

I have on several occasions contemplated on writing something about few guidelines akin to Eraption code of conduct but have found myself on those times ambivalent hence I decided that it is unnecessary since we have mostly mature players in the guild who expectedly will act maturely. However, now, I feel compelled to pen my thoughts on basic don’ts of chat just to make sure some lines are never crossed.

The fact that I have to state obvious things here is not particularly rewarding. It feels like I’m challenging your common sense and basic courtesy. Moreover, I do not want to seem like I have the moral ascendancy nor be perceived as saintly in my actions as that isn’t my intention. So, for all the love and good in this world, for peace on earth and goodwill to men, let’s have a run down on basic don’ts for Eraptioners.

Offensive, foul, vulgar, and prurient language is not allowed in guild/raid chat.

Offensive, foul, vulgar, and prurient character name is not allowed in the guild

What's in a name?

That which we call a rose.  :)

Hi all!

I was browsing wowarmory.com last Tuesday night and got surprised to see that we have 275 members in the guild.  Well, of course a great part of those are alts, low-level players, or inactive players but it is still nevertheless a huge figure for me.  The highest number of people online that I've seen so far was around 33.

In any case, I am curious to know why, what, where, when, and how did you come up with your name in WOW.  Alright, probably not the what, when, and where aspect anymore.  I encourage everyone to post in here and perhaps be a channel to get to know the other guildies better since we're growing.  Sort of the first day in school where you are asked to introduce yourself and tell something abour yourself activity. Sort of.  Just make it short & sweet & funny if you can.

I am raffling off 3 powerful stats to chest enchanting scroll to 3 participants (1 each).  I know it's not a sweepstake prize but that's not the point of this activity.  I'll announce the winners here and deadline of entries is on August 23.

To get the ball rolling, my name was coined from Dolores O'Riordan of Cranberries. Almost all of my wow characters were named after women who rocks (Oh Well, I only have 2 actually - a level 60 Mage named Casidy after Eva Cassidy).

Are you Ulduar-ready?

More and more people are leveling to 80 and are already graduating from Normal Naxxramas/OS/EOE. We have attempted to have two 10-man groups that can raid Ulduar during weeknights and Ulduar 25-man during weekends. So, I thought it would be best to write an article on this and sort of debrief people of what lies ahead. I would be sharing my experience in our 10-man raids and in a DPS player perspective.

What to expect?

Ulduar is designed to have a significant increase in difficulty than Naxxramas. As many hard core players bashed Blizzard because of “extreme easiness” of the earlier content of WOLTK, Blizz responded by giving us the bosses of Ulduar. It is intended to be more challenging hence it is imperative that players prepare for this raid.

As of press time, the progression raiding team has only killed Vezax and has yet to clear Decent into Madness (/throw fierce looks at Yoggy). But based on the 3 wings that we have cleared (Siege, Antechamber, and Keepers), I can definitely say that Ulduar is set to pose a challenge to the players especially once you get to the Keepers of Ulduar.

Everyone will be on its toes and stretch what they have to offer to the team:

Eraption...Then and Now

Old school

Townshend stumbled upon this picture and I couldn't help but be nostalgic about the old times.  This was taken when we first step on the Outland hence we're at the portal that divides the long and exhausting leveling area to the "almost-there leveling" place of WOW(BC time only).  I remember we wanted to capture that very moment where leveling is almost at its last stretch.  The fun memories of grinding is still fresh in my mind. Weiland, Town, and I leveled together and functioned as a team.  Weiland was tanking, Town was healing, and I was DPSing.  At that time, young Eraption was only composed of very few people (Town, Weiland, Franzb, Huntroll, Pinoywarlock & myself) and our normal guild activity at that time was to clear dungeons specific to our level every weekend.  I recall that Gaijing, the epic-donned Mage, helped us farm Scarlet Monastery thrice. In Outland, Eraption started to have more members and friends.  Leviticus (who was also Level 70 full epic already at that point) was always accommodating in running us in Hellfire Peninsula dungeons and Mizuniverze also helped us in several runs by tanking for us.  Mnghihipo (who was not yet part of the guild at that time) has assisted us as well in one of the Outland quests similar to ampitheater quest in Northrend.
